Looking back to Semester 2

Gothic Horror Project

Character design:  (Miss Havisham)
On above are my interpretations of the character Miss Havisham from 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens. The hari and make-up design shows the character of Miss Havisham as an old lady with white messy hair, wrinkles and skin problems as she stayed in her house and never go out. For this assessment, I had done two times the same look on my partner on different dates as so we learn what means by continuity and how important it is in film industry.

Miss Havisham ( 1st assessment)
On this design, I especially like the veins and also the lips make-up.

 Miss Havisham assessment 2
I found the most challenging part of this continuity assessment is to draw the wrinkles on the same place.

Estella
Estella make-up design
Estella hair design
On above are the make-up and hair designs of the character Estella in 'Great Expectations'. I have remained the make-up looks simple and use arched eye brows to show the pride of Estella character. For the hair design, I have used middle parting, curls gather in the middle to show the Victorian look features. I really like the blue ribbon I've used on my hair design.
On above are the photos of my make-up and hair design of Estella's character. During the practice, I'm struggled with the curls at the back but during the assessment my skills have improved and for improvements next time, I should grab more hair on the right side of the curls down on the shoulder to make both side look more evenly.

Claudia & Quentin project:
For the second half of the Gothic Horror Project, we have to create and design two character's looks: Claudia & Quentin.

Claudia

For Claudia, I have used Clowns as the inspirations and the theme of the look. I've used one side of the face for the clown make-up and the other side using a simple daily look to show the audience that Claudia has two side personalities and character. The clown side shows the mean Claudia treated Quentin badly and on the other side show the weak and fragile side of herself. Also the way she use clown makeup because when she was small, she lives alone and the clown is used to fulfill her childhood memories. I'm pleased with the outcome of the look and I like how dramatic it is by doing two different make-up on one face.

Quentin

For Quentin, I have used stitches on his mouth as I want to show that he has no right to say anything as he is part of Claudia's imaginations. I really like the tattoo drawings that I've done on Quentin and this helps to show that Quentin is belongs to Claudia.

Digital Image Production 2:
For this project, we have done two photo shoots and we need to organise the whole photo shoot by ourselves including make-up, hair, styling, photography and also editing.

Advertising a cosmetic product
Mood board
On above are the mood board showing the inspirations and research I've got for the photo shoot. The second photo is the final work of the cosmetics advertisement and for this shoot, I have used Maybelline's gel liner as the theme. Through the lessons of experimenting different lightings in photography, I have learnt a lot and I really like the lighting I've used in here. The way the logos of Maybelline at the bottom being see through makes the logo stands out and look unique. To improve, I can edit the wrinkles on the neck a bit more.

Advertising a perfume
Mood board
On above are the moodboard of my inspirations of this perfume photoshoot and also my prefume advertisement work. I have used YSL Black Opium as the theme and it shows a chic feminine style. I like the way I took this photo shoot at the passage and the way I edit the background darker to create a mysterious mood. To improve, I can place the YSL logo more on the left so I think the compositions of the advert will look better. For the mood board, the top left image, I can replaced it with an edgier image instead.

Looking back to Year 1 Semester 1

During Year 1 semester 1 at university, I have done three projects which are Redheads & Royalty, Make-up and Hair Postiche and Digital Image Production 1. On below are the photos from my projects and I have shown a review of my works during Semester 1.

Contemporary Elizabethans make-up
Looking back to my first make-up project, at that time I was very nervous about my partner's makeup look that I need to create on her. But now thinking back, I have more confident and I believe I can do better than before. To improve, I would have done the black liners more evenly.

My Contemporary Elizabethans Make-up Design:
My final design facechart
On above is my design and my favourite part of the look is the idea of the egg shells that I applied on one side of the face to show the damage skin of the Elizabethans because the use of their makeup products and this helps my design to link to the history of the Elizabethans. To improve, on my blog, I can talk more in depth about why I'm using eggshells on my design.
The make-up is done by my assessment partner Mihaela.

Contemporary Elizabethans Hair Design
On below are the photos of my first hair assessment and I have done Mihaela's hair design on her. After several practices, I'm proud with the results and I feel successful about the outcome. To improve, I should place the flowers at the back more balance on both side.

My final design hair chart
On above is my design's hair chart and on below are the photos of me with my hair designs which was done by Mihaela. I'm pleased with the texture and the outcome of the final look.

Digital Image Production 1: Monochromatic colour photo shoot

Moodboard
To improve, I think the moodboard is a bit too crowded, so I will place less images on it next time.
The theme of my photo shoot is pink and happiness. I'm pleased with the photo shoot as I like the expressions of my model which I think definitely present the mood of happiness.
I can improved by apply a bolder pink eye shadow to give more sharp and contrast look.
